The first day

I’d like to say the first day of camp went flawlessly, but of course that would be a BIG FAT LIE! The buses were late, we ran out of name stickers, the phone in my lab was the only phone working and it rang off the hook all day, and my first group was an hour late which was actually a God send; they were an unenthusiastic lot and had me yawning within 10 minutes.

The little ones were ‘little’, half the class was computer literate, and the other half weren’t quite sure what a mouse was. I had to put little dots on the left mouse button. Thank God for kidpix, the stupid sounds kept them entertained.

The junior group lesson was a nightmare. None of the games worked. I installed all the games under theĀ  administrator user and none wanted to work under the limited account – wtf is up with that? One of the games insisted it would only work on a dvd player, and another didn’t like the pc graphics card.

Oh yeah, and the guitar amp caught fire so I had to evacuate.

A fire drill is scheduled for tomorrow.

7 weeks 4 days to go!

What a day!

Started off hot, hot, hot, I didn’t think I’d survive, I was frazzled before the party started after setting it all up.

An hour of my morning was spend shopping and buying balloons, 2 of which came loose and disappeared 10 minutes after the party began, two others lasted about an hour and the other went all limp after the end of the day rain. If anyone finds a ‘sponge bob’ balloon flying around, it’s ours, please return, C was quite upset.

My tri-color salad turned out crap due to the cheap pasta hubby bought, however I was told my sausage and peppers made up for it, and excuse me while I pat myself on the back, but my chicken was just friggin awesome :)

Both my nephew and I kept checking weather.com, expecting a storm to hit at anytime since that’s what had been forecast all week. It held off until we all sat down to eat cake then the heavens opened up. Thunder, lightening, and torrential rain. Thankfully ever vigilant joseph had checked the radar map and gave us a 15 minute warning, so most of the stuff had been cleaned off the tables and kids were out of the pool before the downpour.

I wasn’t disappointed, we had almost 5 hours of good partying fun and the kids didn’t seem to mind, they proceeded indoors and soon managed to cover every inch of floor with toys.

By 7:30 everyone headed home, and C, exhausted was fast asleep by 8:15.

Everyday should be this carefree.

Dear Conor

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Today you reached 5yrs old, and I say it every year, wow! Yes, really, it’s gone by that fast.

So while I was chopping up the peppers to make sausage and peppers for the barbecue in your honor tomorrow I had to stop. The tears ran freely as I thought about my mom, your nanna. I miss her so much, especially at birthdays. She loved you so very much, when she looked at you her face filled with joy.

She was here in the States when you were born, and when I brought you home from the hospital she and grampy took over. The first two weeks of your life they fussed constantly over you. Your nanna would stop every now and again to give your brother a hug lest he felt left out, but even Matthew was in awe of you.

Five years on and you’re like a bottle of pop – you wear me out. I don’t know where you get your energy from, it certainly isn’t from me or your dad. You went to bed an hour ago, and I still hear you chatting to yourself up there.

You are my ‘outdoor, people person’ child. Unlike your brother, you prefer to be outdoors, and the more people around, the happier you are. You’re definitely Mr. Sociable’, I hope that part of you never changes, I see a career in politics :) since even at 5yrs old, you can talk your way out of anything – however when you told me a crocodile came into the house and spilled your cereal over the floor when we weren’t looking? Honey, that was a little to out there, maybe if you’d said the neighbors dog…

Hyperactivity aside, you are the most lovable child I know. You wake me up with a smile and a good morning (although I do wish your wake-up calls were closer to 7 instead of 6). You comment on how beautiful the day is even when it’s raining and I never have a problem getting you out the door even if it’s for something as mundane as grocery shopping.

I love you C. please don’t change that wonderful personality of yours, always keep that face smiling

Love Mom

Summer camp starts on Monday – I am sooooooooooo not ready.

I so wish this was me

Kids befuddle me

M – Those sneakers you bought me are skateboarding sneakers

Moi – So?

M – I don’t skateboard

Moi – You have 3 pairs of basketball sneakers and you don’t play basketball, what’s your point?

M – You don’t get it

Apparently I don’t, does anyone here?

My flipflops flopped

C was stood on the back of my flipflops, I walked, they broke. My favorite flipflops which I paid $14 for, are no more. I plan on heading to modells today, hoping and praying they have the same style I bought there over 2 years ago. If not I’ll have to head to the adidas site and pay top dollar.
