Hic!

Bloglines did it -  many blogs in my list had 200 new entries including a blog that hasn’t had any new entries for weeks because she changed addresses.

Don’t get me started on Dreamhost, they’re been hiccuping for over a week – there are days I get fed up of waiting for my site to load and don’t bother posting.

What gives?

A calendar for all occasions

I’m always looking the things to make my life easier – today I can report, I’m still looking.

My life right now revolves around 3 schools, mine, C’s and M’s. Each school has it’s own calendar each filled with a trillion events that I have no hope in remembering. Then there’s bills to pay, deadlines to make family gathering to get to on time etc etc etc.

I currently use Yahoo calendar, but it doesn’t do half the stuff the simple calendar on my fridge does. However the calendar on my fridge doesn’t have txt messaging capabilities that remind me 15 minutes before an event I’m about to be late.

Yahoo calendar doesn’t jump out and tell me what’s what, it’s not colourful enough – I’d like to be able to change background colours for stuff, so at a glance I know all those in red are related to C’s school, Gold related to M’s school – alas not available I have to start off each entry with whatever school it concerns.

Last time I looked at google calendar it was much the same boring interface.

I use localendar for my school website which as you can see from the graphic on the site is loud and jumps out at you – but not easy to add to on the fly like yahoo, and again, no txt and email notifications of upcoming events. I need those reminders!

Yesterday my good friend Lissa sent me an invite to scrybe calendar but it’ll take me ages to start inserting all those appointments and events again – no ‘import’ from yahoo calendar available – but why would there be?

Scrybe has some nifty things going on, drag and drop events, quickly extend the times of events. It has labels I can give each school, but rather than changing the background colours, I can only change the text colour – and my choices for colours are about 6 pastel colours, blah!

Come on yahoo, my life is wrapped up in your calendar, update it, give me some cool new features – make it easier for me to see where I’m suppose to be at a glance. I don’t think you’ve changed the way it looks in years – it’s BORING!
