Ringtones on chocolate

Since I can’t use the music on the transflash card for ringtones, (I think I’ve mentioned before how verizon choose to butcher their phones, thus disabling lots of yummy features), and I can’t get a data cable for the phone until the 27th (don’t ask) I had to go find another way to get decent tones without paying $2.99. It’s not that I think $2.99 is a lot of money…well, yeah actually I do think $2.99 is a lot of money for a ringtone, so I ain’t paying it. I’m not a ringtone fanatic, but I can’t have a phone that beeps, or bops, or plays a whinny tune.
Anyway, this is what I did.

  1. Take one of your favourite mp3′s and open it in audacity
  2. Clip it to around 23 seconds (ample length for a ringtone)
  3. Export mp3
  4. Go ringtone uploader and get it sent to your phone.
  5. Once it arrives to your phone, go to options and save as a ringtone.

Works for me until the cable arrives.

Why didn’t you just upload it using vtext and email it to your phone thus bypassing funformobile? I hear you ask. Because I could never get vtext to accept the upload that’s why; File to big, file in the wrong format, sample rate to high etc etc etc, and got fed up of trying.

How big are you making them. Mine was trial and error,I think the ones that worked were between 60 and 90K I think I deleted after uploading so I can’t go check.
