Sounded so much better today. She wasn’t coughing so much, and was quite witty over the phone. She’s scheduled for some kind of scan tomorrow. apparently they only do scans on Tuesdays and Thursdays – god bless the NHS.
It might be a good idea if you’re planning a visit to the UK, call the local hospitals and find out their scan schedules, surgery schedules, etc. God forbid you fall ill on a day the correct equiptment isn’t at the hospital – you’ll be screwed.
I digress…
They think (they don’t know, since she hasn’t had the scan yet, but I mentioned that already didn’t I – she fell ill on the wrong day) she has a blood clot in the lung. Otherwise known as a pulmonary embolism
This off course would explain the shortness of breath, chest pains, and generally feeling shitty. You’d think due to her age, and the fact she can’t breath very well a scan would have been a priority but, as I’ve mentioned, they only do them on a Tuesday and Thursday. Incidently, she’s been in the hospital since Sunday, but the list of people waiting for scans was so large, ON ACCOUNT THEY ONLY DO SCANS ON A TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, they couldn’t squeeze her in this Tuesday.
She’s been having twice daily injections to thin the blood but that’s about it I believe. Hopefully by tomorrow (scan willing) we’ll have a definite prognosis.
