The jury duty annoyance continues

Remember this post back in January? Well it’s pretty damned obvious now that they never received my reply combined with yet another copy of my green-card, as this morning I received a summons in the mail. Typical isn’t it, arrives on a Saturday morning and I have to stew until Monday before I can call and ask WTF is going on.

I was called for jury duty in February 2002, I mailed a copy of my GC, then again in September 2002, they got another copy of my GC. and again in January 2003. What are they doing, planning on wallpapering the frigging office with copies of my green-card?

County Clerk Office, Richmond County – GET A CLUE!

The Official letter

Dear Sir or Madam: (annoyance #1, they don’t even know if I’m male or female)
Please take notice that pursuant (they mean ‘according to’ for those of you not familiar with the word pursuant) to section 527 of the Judiciary Law of the State of New York, you are herby charged with failure to respond to summonses (huh, summonses I only got one this year and I did respond) for jury duty in Richmond County on the above term date and on prior term date. (yea and you lot are charged with being incompetent, inefficient, and wasting tax payers funds by not paying attention to previous correspondences).
Willful disregard of a jury summons and/or this legal notice subject you to NON-COMPLIANCE (yes it was bolded and capitalized) proceedings that can result in the imposition of a civil fine of $250.00 and the docketing of a civil judgment against you for that amount along with an order fixing a date certain for jury service, or a criminal contempt resulting in a fine of $1000.00 or imprisonment not exceeding (30)days, or both. (Super, another waste of tax payers money, jail me and feed me for 30 days because I’m not a US citizen, and you lot keep forgetting).

Therefore, (again in caps but not bolded this time) YOU ARE SUMMONED TO APPEAR IN PERSON (like I would send a substitute after such a sharp letter) at the **insert address** any Tuesday, Thursday or Friday between the hours of 9:30A.M. and 1:00P.M. or 2:30 P.M. and 4:00P.M., within (20) days from the date appearing on this letter to respond to the above charges at which time you may admit your non-compliance or request a hearing. Failure to appear in person shall be deemed an admission of the conduct charged.

::Eye Roll:: I guess I’m going to be inconvenienced yet again because they have some antiquated system that doesn’t keep track of previous fluff ups.
