Internet Friends

I met someone today I’ve only ever spoken to on the phone, and in an internet forum I frequent Broadband Reports. It’s a pretty cool community, where the old and young get together and exchange ideas, or help each other out, most of the time without erupting into arguments, but we do get our fair share of trolls.

Many in the forums have gotten together to meet each other, most however have occurred in Ca, little far for me to travel I’m afraid. Us on the East Coast seem to be a little less organized, and haven’t managed to agree on a time and place.
On the other hand, living in NY, we tend to be a little more suspicious.

Anyway, Aria is from Virginia, and spent the weekend in Boston attending a wedding. On her way back she stopped off in NY to say hi. We had lunch, and swooned over the NY skyline for half hour, then she had to get back on the road.
Nice meeting you Aria, next time I hope you can stay longer and I’ll show you the city up close instead of from the shores of Staten Island.

Making a blog entry no matter what.

I’ve only recently gotten into this blog thing. Not sure what I want to get out of it. I enjoy writing here sometimes during the day about something that has happened, or simply writing about a useless thought that has sprung to mind whilst in the loo.

I’ve enjoyed reading some of the blogs I’ve bumped into, some are incredibly witty other informative and others I’ve clicked the back button almost immediately, usually due to some horrendous color scheme.

What’s my point? I was just wondering if half these people are as interesting and entertaining in the real world as they seem to be when they write, or if they spend hours composing an entry, treating it like an important newspaper article about to be published in a national newspaper.

The Fun Run

Did my bit for the Annual Catholic school fun run this morning. Hubby and I showed up with Matthew, proudly displaying our School sweatshirt, and walked around the park twice.
It was fun, field was muddy, very muddy, sheet of water and bird poop covered the grass. Actually I was informed by a 3rd grader they were geese…whatever, if it has feathers and wings it’s still a bird.

Then I fell in the mud/poop. Don’t know what possessed me, but I decided to join in the soccer game, and this little 4th grader tripped me trying to get the ball, ewwwwwwwww.
Kid just earned himself and “F” in computers. Rule number one…when the pc teacher is going for the ball, STAND BACK AND GIVE HER ROOM!

Just kidding Mary, I’m a professional, and under no circumstances would I let a little thing like being pushed in poop affect my judgment. :-)

Wanted to share this with everyone Browser Spell check referenced on Tess’ site. Most of you know what an abysmal speller I am, I tend to blame it on typos, but you all know the truth. I don’t spell well. This is great when replying in forums or blogs. A simple right click, and then spell check. Idiot proof. (heh, where have I heard that before?)

Was aimlessly browsing some days ago, and I found a little program which sits in the system tray and after inputting the correct information, it lets you know when your favorite blogs have been updated. Of course, I was rushing, and never made a note of the name or URL where I found it. Anyone know what and where this is please?

A day playing.

So ok, I admit, today I was lazy. I had a million things to do, and I accomplished nothing. I could have been putting together lesson plans, I could have dragged my butt to school and installed software, put another pc together, swept the floor, but instead I chose to do nothing of great importance.

I fiddled with the colors on my style sheet again, as it’s vital I get them “just right”, not sure what “just right” is, but I suppose I’ll know when I get there. Then I went cruising around other blogs to see what styles and colors others used, which is where I stumbled upon CrankyChick.net and spent the next hour or so reading :-).
I highly recommend this blog, especially the “Children” section, it’s hilarious.

Went to school to pick up my son, and was called into the principal’s office. Not my favorite room in the school unless I go of my own free will, usually brings back unwanted childhood memories when I’d be stood fidgeting in front of this huge desk, trying to explain why I wasn’t present during a few classes that day.

My first thought, what have I done now? My second thought, Oh gawd, what has my son done now?

Anyway, turns out she was giving me a gift…me a gift. Of course I spoiled it, she saw the suspicion creep into my eyes – gift for me – why – what am I going to be volunteered for – which day do I have to be in really early – Oh no, they want me to sub for 8th grade. LOL (sorry Kasia) it was a gift given in thanks for tearing the pc’s apart and fixing them, a certificate to get a manicure (I’d complained the day before of destroying my nails whilst inside the pc’s).

Now wasn’t that sweet? Thank you.

NO!

It’s very simple, it only has two letters, why is it so difficult to understand?
Why is it always necessary to know the reason? Usually it’s quite obvious anyway…to me.
I’m not going to change my mind when the words “but why” are whined in my ear more than once, and stomping away and slamming a door does not help your case.
By the way, you don’t have to like me… I’m your mother.
